Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever advocate for bill to allow hunting on Sundays

House Bill 271 passed through the Delaware Senate and House and it is ready to be signed into law by Governor Carney. This bill eliminates the prohibition on Sunday hunting of game birds in The First State, making upland hunting more accessible and equitable. This will result in more hunting opportunities for those with busy schedules Monday through Saturday, and for new hunters to learn and gain experience. When signed into law, HB 271 will be put into action for the 2024-25 hunting season.

“This change is incredibly exciting for our PF & QF members in the northeast,” said Ariel Wiegard, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s vice president of government affairs. “We’re very thankful for the support of local chapters and partner organizations who testified and contacted legislators to make their voices heard.”

Pheasants Forever endorsed HB 271 alongside the following organizations:

  • Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation
  • Delaware Building & Construction Trades Council
  • Delaware Farm Bureau
  • Delaware Sportsman Caucus
  • Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association
  • Delaware Turkey Federation
