Five Question Friday: David Bub

David Bub, President of the Gateway Chapter of Quail Forever in St. Louis
QF: What is your most memorable QF event?
DB: My most memorable Quail Forever experience to date was our first banquet that was held this past October. The Gateway Chapter of QF is the first chapter in the country, a designation that we are quite proud of. We wanted to have a very memorable first banquet.
The Busch family (of Anheuser Busch fame) allowed us to use their private family mansion on the grounds of the Grants Farm estate in St. Louis. The mansion is about 100 years old and is one of St. Louis' most renowned landmarks. It rarely open to the public. As such, our chapter jumped at the chance when Adolphus Busch donated the use of the mansion for our premier event.
Our banquet was attended by almost 200 hundred people despite the fact that this was the same night that the St. Louis Cardinals were playing for the National League title. We raised over $40,000 for QF. It was a great way to kick off our QF fund raising events here in St. Louis.
QF: How many times did you hunt quail this past season?
DB: I am an upland bird hunting fanatic. My wife refers to it more as a disease and/or addiction. I have not missed an Opening Day of Missouri's quail season in over 25 years. I probably hunt quail and/or pheasants here in Missouri (and Illinois) at least 25 days a season.
QF: Who is your all-time favorite St. Louis Cardinal?
DB: No question about it: Stan ("The Man"). In fact, if you live in St. Louis and Stan The Man is not your favorite Cardinal of all time, the Mayor asks you to leave.
QF: What types of music do you like to listen to?
DB: I like all types of music from rock, to country to jazz. Favorite artist is probably Johnny Cash. Favorite Song: "Ring of Fire." We get a lot of great musicians and groups that come through St. Louis so its hard to pick just one favorite concert. If I had to pick one, I would have to say it was the last time the Rolling Stones came to St. Louis and played in the old Busch Stadium about 5 or 6 years ago. The weather was fantastic and these old guys still knew how to rock the crowd.
QF: If a movie was made about your life, who would you like to see play the part of David Bub?
DB: This is a tough one. Marlin Brando is one of the greatest actors of all time. If I had to pick one, it would have to be Brando.
