Five Question Friday: Elsa Gallagher

5 Question Friday: Elsa Gallagher

Elsa Gallagher is Quail Forever's Regional Wildlife Biologist in Missouri and Kansas.

QF: Your dog, Rooster Cogburn, has the distinction of being the first QF Life Member dog. Has it gone to his head yet?

EG: Rooster is a down to earth kinda dog and if his red head gets too big, my pointer, Rocks, is always quick to let him know that she's the boss around here. She's faster, meaner, and more seasoned than he is - she's also a bird finding machine.

QF: You are a Regional Wildlife Biologist with Quail Forever. What's the most rewarding aspect of your job?

EG: Seeing chapters come together as they work towards a common goal of restoring quail habitat or teaching kids to hunt. Working with agency biologists that have the same passion about restoring quail habitat that I see in the mirror - and that I see in the faces of the folks running our chapters.

QF: The network news anchor of your choice -Katie Couric, Brian Williams or Charles Gibson?

EG: Brian Williams.

QF: The nation is in the midst of March Madness. How's your bracket standing up at this point?

EG: The Big 12 is holding up o.k. I would have been out of luck if my "territory" didn't include Kansas - as it now does, I'm rooting for the Jayhawks. Missouri State and Kansas State both got knocked out of the NIT, so no hope there. There are some great quail researchers at Mississippi State so maybe they'll make it all the way in the NIT.

QF: Missouri is called the 'Show Me State.' What's the best thing Missouri has shown you?

EG: A unique and abiding interest by most Missourians (or at least the good ones I've had the pleasure of working with) in the outdoors, conservation, and hunting. Missourians are proud of their hunting heritage, enjoy the outdoors, and will work to protect wildlife habitat. I like that.
