Five Question Friday: Linda Garner

Five Question Friday: Linda Garner

Five Question Friday with Linda Garner of the High Plains Chapter of QF in Wheeler, Texas.

QF: How do you stay cool in the southern summer heat...?

LG: We moved to the Panhandle of Texas from Middle Tennessee where the summer temperature is 98 with 99% humidity, or better. The drier heat out here is not a big problem for me. I just wear "cool" clothes and drink lots of water.

QF: Your most annoying outdoor experience was...?

LG: In a field trial last spring. It was pouring down rain and getting late in the day. I needed to score 5 birds to win the trial, at least 4 birds to place. Droopy started out like gangbusters--3 quick finds. Then it all went downhill. Although he found 3 more birds, we were only able to score those first 3. It was very frustrating since any placement would have finished out his NSTRA championship. Even my judge felt sorry for us!!!

QF: Texas' best kept secret is...?

LG: Texas has lots of secrets and it's hard to pick the best kept one, especially since I've only lived here for two years. I guess most people don't know that Palo Duro Canyon (just south of Amarillo) is the second largest canyon in the U.S. And there's a restaurant on the outskirts of Amarillo called Outlaws that has the best steaks ever! Only the locals know how to get there.

QF: Ever seen a Texas tornado...?

LG: I've never actually seen a Texas tornado - been under some watches and warnings and did have to take shelter once. I did get caught in a tornado in Tennessee several years ago. That was pretty scary.

QF: Favorite Texas-based TV show ever (Dallas, Walker - Texas Ranger, etc.)...?

LG: I don't do much TV, but I grew up watching "Ponderosa" every Sunday night. Adam was always my favorite.
