Days Gone By: June 2007

For over 100 years, hunters have taken to autumn fields in search of those elusive bobwhite. Some things never change - good dogs, good people and a few cooperating birds always make for successful hunts - but some things do. Don't believe us? See for yourself in these photos from the archives.

On The Wing: June 2007
David Shea, 32, Minneapolis, Minnesota, "The summer of 1963, my father John Shea (left) and his twin brother James reached the milestone age of 16. It was a time of immense joy and pride, for they had just purchased brand new shotguns using savings from raking leaves for a whole year. Opening day fall 1963, my father and uncle bagged their first birds near Woodstock, Illinois - that unforgettable moment captured in this photo. My father still hunts each fall, including an annual father/son hunt. It is the time of year I look forward to the most. Thank you for your great organization. My father became a LIFE MEMBER a couple years ago!" Well Mr. Shea, thank you for a very inspiring story!
