In the Field: December 2007
Pheasants Forever members share their success stories from the field!
"It was on Big Sand Lake near Phelps Wisconsin. I thought to myself many a time as to what the heck am I doing out on the water in a snowstorm chasing muskie. This is crazy!! Freezing temps and a great northern snow squall (whiteout conditions) had just passed through. No sooner did the last snowflake hit the water and this toothy 42-incher hit my double secret rooster booster bait. And out of the water she came, tail dancing away from the boat. I played her game right to the boat and my (just as crazy) net man Sean Murphy pulled the hooks. Quick measure and a photo and off she went to fight a better battle another day. Two hours later, he bushwhacked a huge 30-pounder. The lake froze over two days later and that's all she wrote. Next time someone asks me to go muskie fishing in a snowstorm, I think the answer will be yes. Your beer will never get warm!!!"
