A Great Start to Forever: June 2008

People Making a Difference in Conservation

Ohio's Young Guns

A Great Start to Forever: June 2008 When it comes to encouraging youngsters to enjoy outdoor sports while carrying on the tradition of safe hunting practices, nobody does it better than the Southeast Ohio Chapter of Pheasants Forever. Constituting Fairfield, Licking, Hocking and Perry counties, the chapter's annual youth event has grown into one of the largest of its kind in the nation, with over 800 youth attending in 2007 and over 900 at this year's event.

A Great Start to Forever: June 2008 At the event, youth can participate in almost anything and everything having to do with the outdoors, from learning the art of duck calling, sporting clays, archery, angling and much more. On top of this, the Southeast Ohio chapter also organized and sponsored four youth hunts last year, introducing over 75 youth to the joys of pheasant hunting.

To see more from the 7th annual youth event this past April held at the Fairfield Fish & Game club, log onto www.outdoorohio.com.

For more information on the chapter, visit seohio.pheasantsforever.org.

If you have story ideas, dog photos, pre-1980 hunting photos and requests for future On The Wing consideration, please send correspondence to ahauck@pheasantsforever.org.
