In the Field: June 2008

28 Gauges Later

This hunt took place the day after Thanksgiving on Cody Pettey's (my Brother-in-Law) land in Pasco, Washington. The pheasant hunting in Pasco hasn't been great for the past 10 years, but Cody has spent hundreds of hours improving the habitat on the land to improve the health of the pheasant and quail populations. He's done such a great job, and should be commended for his tireless efforts.

In the Field: June 2008 We all shot our limit of two birds, including my 11-year-old son, who had just passed hunter's safety a month earlier. My gun is a Browning BPS 28 Gauge. I took the pheasant with 7 1/2 shot with an IC choke while the bird was quartering away to my right. That 28 GA Browning dropped the bird in its tracks. I've become quite skilled with it!
