In the Weeds: May 2009

"In The Weeds" takes a closer look at the projects, events and happenings of the over 700 PF/QF chapters and 130,000 PF/QF members across the country.

Back in the Saddle

Kanabec County (Minnesota) resident Byron Larson is the proud owner of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Again.

In the Weeds: May 2009 Larson purchased a $20 raffle ticket from the Coborn's store in Mora, which was drawn during the Kanabec County Pheasants Forever banquet in March. His prize was a brand new 2008 Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide valued at over $13,000.

Larson's new bike is his second Harley-Davidson. He was forced to sell his first after unexpectedly losing his job - a bike he had waited all of 47 years to buy.

The bike also provided the motivation for Larson to rejoin PF. He wasn't a member, but said he would join the Kanabec County chapter. "I think Pheasants Forever is a good program," he said. "I'm a pheasant hunter from way back, and to me it's a good cause."

If you have story ideas, dog photos, pre-1980 hunting photos and requests for future On The Wing consideration, please send correspondence to ahauck@pheasantsforever.org.
