Every month, Marketing Specialist Andrew Vavra tests the latest, greatest and most interesting upland gear Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever has to offer. There are no loyalties here - he'll use it, abuse it and let you know what he thinks of some of products you can find at the Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever Marketplaces.

Reebok Soft Shell Jacket

Gears & Guns: July 2010

One quick glance in my closet brings me to two distinct conclusions.

  1. I need to do a load of laundry
  2. I have a strong affinity for jackets

Calling the upper Midwest home means I know my stuff when it comes to products such as long underwear, wool socks and jackets. It's a way of life around here (no matter how much we like to brag about our sun drenched summers). That said, finding a reasonably priced, versatile and stylish jacket is the equivalent to striking gold and I honestly think our new Pheasants Forever Reebok Soft Shell Jacket is nothing less than 24Karrots (available in Men's and Women's cuts).

This water resistant, 3-layered soft-shell jacket is composed of stretch polyester and microfleece. It is equipped with a right chest pocket, zippered front pockets, and shock cord drawstrings that make it fit extremely well while wearing it alone or when layering with other clothing.

Being able to put on a coat that stretches with my movements (instead of feeling like the seams are going to tear) is a welcome change of pace for me. Not to mention it's breathable (microfleece armpits), water and wind repellent (stretch polyester), and available in women's sizes.

"It is both stylish and comfortable and is actually made to fit a woman," says Sara Holle, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever Graphic Designer, "Now I don't have to wear sleeves past my knuckles." I couldn't have said it better myself.
