Quail Forever Hosts 300 Trophy Shots

In the Field: July 2010

For the third consecutive year, Ralph and Richard Renegar's Hunting Creek Preserves in Harmony, N.C., and the Hunting Creek Quail Forever chapter hosted District 7 of the North Carolina Wildlife Commission's Hunter Safety Competition.

Approximately 30 high schools and middle schools were present, fielding 300 Senior and Junior competitors. Competition covered four areas: Class room test of field knowledge, test of compass navigation, wildlife identification and safety knowledge. This is followed by field competition in the areas of trap shooting at clay targets, small bore rifle competition, and an archery competition.

The Iredale, County-based Hunting Creek Quail Forever chapter bestowed awards to the top three Junior and Senior, with chapter member Richard Renegar presenting.

Wanted: Your trophy shots to share with fellow Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever members "In The Field." Photos will not be returned, and will be spread virally via the Internet. Email your picture(s) to press@pheasantsforever.org.
