National QF Seed Program

QF Food Plot Seed Mixes

Food Plots are an essential part of good game bird management. When effectively placed, these areas minimize movements and provide a dependable, high-energy food over winter. Selecting the correct mixes can provide escape cover and enhance protection in wintering areas so that even in mild winters, upland wildlife will benefit. Food plots can also provide excellent bird hunting experiences.

We have a great line of PF/QF Food Plot Mixes for your consideration in 2009 and easier options for ordering. We are taking orders now for the upcoming 2009 planting season.

bobwhite quail

"Bobwhite Buffers" improve bobwhite quail habitat through the creation of habitat buffers along row crops. These transitional, or edge, areas provide important habitat for quail, grassland birds and other wildlife.

"Bobwhite Buffers" Fly Past 200,000 Acre Mark Nationwide

Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Iowa lead CP-33 enrollment

June 18, 2009:

With 8,181 new acres already enrolled in the program this year, including 2,070 acres in May, federal Conservation Practice 33 (CP-33) has surpassed the 200,000-acre mark nationwide. The practice, which is most commonly referred to as "Bobwhite Buffers" because it is targeted at improving habitat for bobwhite quail, currently, has 207,298 acres enrolled in the program.

"Bobwhite Buffers," announced in 2004, establish the edge habitat along fields, streams and woods that bobwhites love. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has established a goal of 250,000 acres for the program. The CP-33 program is part of the larger federal Continuous Conservation Reserve Program (CCRP).
