Conservation Reinvestment Initiative could be a windfall for natural resources management in the Buckeye State. Act Now!

Hunters, anglers and public lands users in Ohio are being presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fund major conservation programs throughout the state and maintain public access to more than 55,000 acres of American Electric Power (AEP) ReCreation Lands. Thanks to the support of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, the Conservation Reinvestment Initiative as part of the state’s budget proposal is a windfall for natural resources management in the Buckeye State.

Dear Representative,

Please support the Governor’s Conservation Reinvestment Initiative for Ohio. This bill is a windfall for natural resources management in the Buckeye State. If funded, the Initiative would:
Maintain public access to more than 55,000 acres throughout the state for the purposes of hunting, fishing, recreation and wildlife habitat.
Provide funding for conservation programs to improve water quality for Lake Erie and other watersheds. These regions represent the mainstay of wildlife habitat, inluding the remaining wild pheasant and quail populations, in our state.
Enact a modest increase for hunting and fishing licenses (the first since 2003) to provide much-needed revenue to the Ohio Division of Wildlife for improving wildlife habitat, maintaining public access, and developing quality outdoor experiences for all Ohioans.
Thank you for your support of the Conservation Reinvestment Initiative and Ohio’s hunting, fishing and outdoor community!
