Bringing the whistle of quail back to The Sportsmen’s Paradise

Quail Forever (QF) is proud to introduce the Acadiana Chapter, based in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. The group looks forward to recruiting new members through hands-on habitat projects, learn-to-shoot events and more, while focusing on wildlife habitat improvement and fostering the traditions of quail hunting.

Unique among national conservation organizations, chapters of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever retain 100 percent decision-making control over fundraising dollars, allowing volunteers to support impactful wildlife habitat projects, public access initiatives and conservation education programs throughout the upland bird range. QF’s Louisiana regional representative, Jason Kindall, will work closely with the new chapter to support the organization’s vision to sustain abundant populations of wild quail, pheasants and other wildlife.

“Southern Louisiana doesn't usually come up in discussions of quail or other upland bird hunting, but through a lot of hard work by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, QF and private landowners, there are quail returning to the area and it's not uncommon to hear about them over coffee with locals,” Kindall said. “Lafayette has a strong presence of conservation organizations, and the new Acadiana Chapter is positioned to become strong cooperators in joint mission partnerships.”

Forming this chapter highlights how crucial grassroots efforts are for a community. The Acadiana Chapter has many opportunities throughout the region to promote conservation efforts and strengthen the voice of upland birds. The group will host a pint night in January, followed by outreach and hands-on-habitat events in the spring.
