Oklahoma has long been one of the top quail-hunting destinations in the nation, and Quail Forever’s continued strong presence in the Sooner State was recently highlighted with the formation of its 19th Oklahoma chapter, the Canadian Valley Chapter located in Canadian County representing the Yukon, El Reno and Mustang areas.

Quail Forever Oklahoma Regional Representative Laura McIver says the new chapter's primary focus will be on public lands, R3, nesting cover, pollinator plots, and WMA restoration and habitat projects.

"I had a number of folks comment that the distance to travel to meetings and events of the Central Oklahoma 89ers chapter in Oklahoma City wasn't very convenient for the folks who live on the west side of the Oklahoma City metro," McIver says. "With this chapter being located on the far western side of the metro area, it gives folks a way to get involved. I’m very excited about this new chapter because it represents a great opportunity to engage the passionate contingent of folks who want to participate, but really couldn't get to the events in Oklahoma City. And being that this area also includes rural areas and ranches, it gives those landowners additional resources for those interested in helping quail populations in their area."

The Canadian Valley Chapter hasn't set a banquet date yet, but its next meeting will be a Pint Night Meet & Greet set for August 19th, 6:30pm at Louie's Bar & Grill in Yukon, OK.
