Chad Love Hired as Editor and Brand Manager of Nation’s Foremost Quail Habitat Conservation Group

Quail Forever has selected Chad Love as the organization’s new Editor for Quail Forever’s Journal of Quail Conservation, the signature publication of the nation’s foremost quail habitat conservation group. Love will also serve as Quail Forever’s first quail-specific brand manager.  Love will help the organization increase its authentic content in print and all digital forms starting on April 23rd. Additionally, Love will support an overarching goal of brand growth for Quail Forever in membership, events, media, marketing and corporate partnerships.

A diehard quail hunter, conservationist and writer his entire life, Love becomes only the second editor in Quail Forever’s 13-year history.  Love’s predecessor, Mark Herwig (2005-2018), is set to retire as editor of both the Pheasants Forever Journal and Quail Forever Journal in June. Love will take over the new role while being based in Woodward, Oklahoma in the heart of Great Plains bobwhite and scaled quail country with easy access to other quail regions – the Southeast, high plains, and deserts of the Southwest. Love looks forward to highlighting the work of Quail Forever chapters and volunteers through the Journal of Quail Conservation and the organization’s digital platforms.

“The opportunity to work for a conservation organization like Quail Forever transcends simply getting a job. It is a career destination, as well as a unique way to help advance a mission in which I am passionately and personally vested,” Love stated. “I believe the Quail Forever editor and brand manager requires someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes quail, quail dogs, quail shotguns, and quail conservation. Given the choice, there’s little else I’d rather do than think about, write about and hunt quail.”

Recognized as an award-winning journalist and photographer by the Associated Press as well as the Oklahoma Wildlife Federation, Love joins Quail Forever as a top-level outdoor writer who has chronicled the conservation, traditions, and issues of quail hunting for the past 20 years. His career highlights include work for Field & Stream, Covey Rise, Pointing Dog Journal, Shooting Sportsman, Gun Digest, PEOPLE magazine, The Oklahoman, and Oklahoma Today.  He’s also freelanced for Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever over the last decade. Most recently, Love served as the assistant managing editor for FLW Bass Fishing’s magazine where he wrote, managed freelancers, and contributed to their social media channels.

“We’re elated to have Chad join the Quail Forever team at a time when habitat conservation efforts to restore the whistle of bobwhites in the United States is escalating,” stated Howard Vincent, Quail Forever’s President and CEO. “We look forward to Chad’s energy and innovation as he helps move Quail Forever forward with his storytelling.”

Love is a diehard quail hunter and bird dog guy who boasts a kennel of three English setters to help guide him through quail country each fall. He attended the University of Oklahoma with an education focus in public affairs and currently resides in Woodward, Oklahoma with his wife and two sons. Love will make quarterly treks to Quail Forever’s home office to polish each issue of the Quail Forever Journal of Quail Conservation before it is mailed to the organization’s 16,000+ members.
