Quail Forever Appoints Haleigh Rowland to Lead Chapter Efforts in The Prairie State

Quail Forever is excited to announce Haleigh Rowland as the newly appointed Regional Representative for northern Illinois. In this role, Rowland will provide support for volunteers and partners in The Prairie State – currently home to 41 Pheasants Forever chapters, 22 Quail Forever chapters, and more than 8,600 members – as they focus on public and private lands habitat conservation efforts for quail, pheasants, and other wildlife.

Quail Forever empowers county and local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this truly grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers can see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy. Rowland will help guide local chapters to achieve the organization’s mission, while also fostering stronger partnerships with state agencies, corporate supporters, donors, and upland hunters.

“Illinois is an incredibly important region for Quail Forever with top-tier chapters, volunteers, and partnerships that have helped fuel a quail habitat resurgence over the last five years,” stated Tom Fuller, Field Service Director for Quail Forever. “Matching these strengths with the talents of Haleigh Rowland will allow the organization to continue on an upward trajectory for mission delivery in Illinois. Additionally, as an adult-onset hunter and a communications professional, she brings a unique perspective to our organization to help grow chapters and new audiences alike.”

Rowland grew up a short distance from the Gulf of Mexico in Floral City, Florida, where her love of the outdoors was first sparked as a member of 4-H and FFA throughout her childhood, including raising cattle and always having a hand in agriculture. She attended the University of Central Florida where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. During that time, Rowland served as a news intern for stations WKMG News 6 and WFTV Channel 9 in Orlando. After her higher education, Rowland accepted a full-time position as a morning news anchor in Eugene, Oregon with news station KVAL, a CBS affiliate.

“I'm excited for the future, and the endless opportunities in northern Illinois to encourage conservation while working within Quail Forever communities,” stated Haleigh Rowland. “Through local and regional partnerships, I know that together we can accomplish even the greatest of tasks for wildlife and public lands.”

In the Pacific Northwest, a region well-known for its outdoor opportunities, Rowland quickly became an adult-onset upland and waterfowl hunter with the help of her mentor/partner. Her passion for wingshooting continued to grow after acquiring her first bird dog, “Deets,” a now two-year-old black lab who has accompanied Rowland to the prairies of the Midwest.

Rowland will work from her new home office in North Pekin, Illinois, while serving chapter volunteers in the region. For more information about Quail Forever in northern Illinois, contact Haleigh Rowland at (352) 601-0469/ HRowland@QuailForever.Org.
