Hank Shaw, a Leading American Wild Game Chef and Author, Announced as Keynote Speaker at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have announced Hank Shaw, one of the nation’s most popular wild game chefs and cookbook authors, as a featured guest and keynote speaker at the 2022 National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic.Tickets are now available for the nation’s premier upland hunting and conservation tradeshow coming to the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Neb. on March 11-13, 2022.

Shaw is the creator of the James Beard award winning website and food blog “Hunter Angler Gardener Cook” and the author of five wild game cookbooks. He was born and raised on the East Coast before earning a master’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to pursuing a full-time career as a wild foods writer, Shaw worked as a newspaper reporter in Wisconsin, Minnesota, California, New York and Virginia. He founded “Hunter Angler Gardener Cook” in 2007 and the site has since become one of the most popular sources of wild game recipes in the world. Today it boasts over 1,100 recipes detailing preparation for everything from pheasant and fish to squirrels and big game. Shaw is also a longtime member of Pheasants Forever and a Life Member of Quail Forever.

“Celebrating the feast at the end of the hunt can and should play a vital role in preserving North American hunting, for reasons that go well beyond a good pheasant stew,” Shaw said. “Emphasizing food can not only draw in more new hunters, it can also improve the perception of hunting among the 95 percent of Americans who don't hunt. Food is what got me into hunting 20 years ago, and while it’s still the primary reason I hunt, over time it’s begun to share space with a growing realization that a prairie, or grouse woods, or sagebrush sea, that has a healthy population of birds not only makes for a better hunt but is also a marker for an ecosystem that humans haven’t yet ruined.”

Purchase tickets now to witness Shaw’s keynote speech and seminar sessions at the 2022 National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic. Member and non-member ticket options available include full weekend passes, the Friday Upland Rally, and the National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic Banquet featuring Shaw on Saturday evening, March 12.
