Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are proud to announce the hiring of Alexa Ashbrook to serve as regional field representative in Iowa. In her new role, she will provide support for volunteers in a core state for The Habitat Organization, featuring 101 local chapters and more than 18,000 members. Ashbrook will collaborate with volunteers to improve public and private lands conservation efforts for pheasants, quail and other wildlife.
“Iowa is such an important state for us, and Alexa will help us continue to grow in our core range and expand Pheasants Forever to new audiences across the Hawkeye state,” said Tom Fuller, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s director of field services. “She’s got great drive and is eager to make a difference, so we’re all excited to see what she can accomplish in her new position.”
Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever empower county and local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers can see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy. Ashbrook will be responsible for helping chapters achieve these local conservation results, while also connecting them to Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever on a national scale. Additionally, she’ll be charged with helping carry out Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s
Call of the Uplands campaign, which will close its final chapter at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic in Minneapolis, Minn. in February 2023.
Ashbrook recently graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Master of Science degree in natural resources and environmental sciences. While there, she worked as a research assistant and hunter recruitment technician with the Illinois Learn to Hunt Program, helping teach adult-onset hunters the basics of the outdoors. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in natural resource tourism from Colorado State University.
“My job with the Illinois Learn to Hunt Program really developed my passion for working with both new and old hunters alike,” Ashbrook said. “I’m excited to take that experience and apply it to Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, especially in a state with such rich hunting heritage.”
