Pheasants Forever Hires J.P. Knutson as Regional Rep in Western Iowa

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are proud to announce the hiring of J.P. Knutson as a regional representative in western Iowa. In his new role, Knutson will provide support for more than 18,000 dedicated members and volunteers throughout the state, working closely with local chapters to improve public and private lands conservation efforts for pheasants, quail, and other wildlife.

“J.P. will be a great addition to our team in Iowa,” said Matt Christensen, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s field services manager. “Iowa is home to more Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever chapters than any other state in the country, and J.P. will help continue the great tradition we have in the Hawkeye state.”

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever empower county and local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers can see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy. Knutson will be responsible for helping chapters achieve local conservation results, helping fulfill organizational pillars for habitat, education, access, and advocacy.

Knutson grew up in southern Minnesota and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a degree in business management. Before joining The Habitat Organization, he was a professional hunting guide for Milk River Outfitters in Valley County, Montana. Knutson honed his knowledge of upland birds and habitat at Milk River, who specializes in guiding both big game and waterfowl/upland hunts. Prior to his time with Milk River, Knutson was a sales professional.

“I’ve spent the last two seasons chasing wild birds in the northeast region of Montana, and I went into that career with an unknown end goal,” Knutson said. “After the first season I knew I wanted to work for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever — to help create a lasting impact for the upland community.”
