youth upland habitat projects

learning about the birds and the bees

Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever chapters are helping the next generation of conservationists develop a respect and appreciation for the land. Upland habitat projects are an ideal entry point for youngsters into the world of upland conservation.

Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever chapters host community events to educate youth and their families about the value of pollinators to humans and pheasants through interactive upland habitat projects.

Upland Pollinator Habitat Program

Approximately one-third of all food consumed by humans is delivered by pollinators - including fruits, vegetables, nuts, and coffee. Habitat necessary for rapidly declining populations of honey bees and monarch butterflies is also the very same diverse grassland and prairie flower habitat necessary for quail. Likewise, the insects produced in this habitat are the primary food source for quail chicks during their first months of life. Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever chapters that hold youth pollinator habitat events not only benefit the birds and the bees, they provide education opportunities for local youth and community groups.

Community based upland habitat projects center on youth, showcasing upland habitat as the nexus between birds – pheasants and quail – and the bees.

Community Based Upland Habitat Projects

Because Quail Forever and Pheasants Forever chapters engage schools, youth, and community groups, upland pollinator habitat projects are a youth extension of the organization’s grassroots support, engaging students and families on the local level.
