Trio of New Quail Forever Chapters Focus on Habitat Across Historic Bobwhite Range

Quail Forever is proud to announce three new local chapters spread out across the bobwhite’s historic range. In each chapter, new ranks of volunteers will provide a welcomed boost to habitat conservation work, hunter recruitment and advocacy efforts in their respective communities.

Unique among national conservation organizations, the new chapters of Quail Forever will retain 100 percent decision-making control over their locally raised funds. Under this model, volunteers can develop wildlife habitat projects and conduct conservation education events in their region, while belonging to a national organization with a voice regarding state and federal conservation policy.

Coastal Virginia

The Coastal Virginia Chapter of Quail Forever is based across a wide swath of the state, including Chesapeake, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News, Isle of Wright, Suffolk, Northampton, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Southampton and York Counties.

"Starting a chapter in southeastern Virginia has been a long time coming,” said Phil Bastron, a Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever development officer. “There are many passionate folks in the area that are eager to get involved with Quail Forever's mission, and I’m confident this group will do great work.”

The chapter will host a pint night this month, and will hold their first banquet next spring in April 2024.

"This group is passionate about implementing quality wildlife habitat in their area, and working with landowners to do so,” said regional representative Nicholas Golias. “I'm excited to see what this chapter will accomplish in the years ahead, and the impact they will have on conservation efforts in east-central Indiana.”

The chapter is in the process of confirming a venue for their first banquet right now, which they plan to hold in January 2024.
